Tough day but West Indies hit back with some key wickets

13 wickets fell on the opening day of 1st Test between West Indies Australia at the Windsor Park, in Dominica. where West Indies struggled to 148 and Australia finished at 85 for 3.

West Indies' decision to bat first after winning the toss proved costly as they were bowled out for mere 148 run after batting first two sessions of the day. Australia's pace attack looked lethal as Mitchell Johnson, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc shared 8 wickets between them.

Shai Hope was the highest score for the host; he scored 36 runs but couldn't hold on to his wicket for long as Johnson's good length and off side off delivery clicked kissed his bat before going into Shaun Marsh's hands.

The visitors also had a stumbling start as they lost their 3 wickets before the close of day 1. Jerome Taylor and Jason Holder took 1 wicket each as Australia were kept on hold at 83 for 3 before umpire shouted stumps.

Australia looked in control when they bowled out the home team, but West Indies soon hit back with their attacking bowling. They kept it tight for the Aussies to score and the pitch supported them too.

West Indies have done well with the ball and now they just need to pick wickets quickly to make sure that Australia doesn't take the charge of driving seat.

Debutant Adam Voges and vice-captain Steven Smith is there on the crease for Australia batting on 20 and 17 runs respectively.
