Venkatesh Prasad, Javagal Srinath to make acting debut in a movie based on Sachin Tendulkar

Retired Indian pacers Venkatesh Prasad and Javagal Srinath will be making their cinematic debut in an upcoming Kannada movie titled ‘Sachin Tendulkar Alla.’

Made under the directorial guidance of actor Mohan Shankar, the movie will be about the struggles of an autistic boy who wishes to be like Sachin Tendulkar and play for India.

“The story revolves around the boy wants to play cricket with normal kids, which is virtually impossible as none of the schools wants to admit him,” Director Mohan Shankar told media. “Cricketer Venkatesh Prasad is part of the film and plays a coach and sees to it that the child finally gets to play cricket. Expect a Lagaan feel in the second half of my film.”

“Prasad’s role is very important in the film. We haven’t roped him in to capitalize on his popularity, but because of the story. The story revolves around an autistic boy who aspires to become Sachin Tendulkar. Venkatesh plays his coach in the film.”

“Since the story revolves around cricket, I thought having real cricketers would make it even more authentic,” he added.

Venkatesh Prasad was delighted with his new role as an actor, said Mohan who was impressed by his performance. “I am confused, whether he is a cricketer or an actor,” added Mohan.

“He had a tough time on day one, but after that he has been doing great. He and Suhasini have been friends for long and they share a comfort zone on-screen which is a plus point. Sudharani is glad to be part of the project and plays the role of a friend to Prasad. We have already started shooting with Prasad. His camaraderie with the boy will be one of the highlights of the film.”

Javagal Srinath has also agreed to make his appearance in the movie, and the director expects Sachin Tendulkar to make a short cameo as well.

“I am also doing my bit to pull in the God of cricket, Sachin, at least for one shot and Prasad has promised to confirm,” he said.

The movie is expected to be completed in a month, and could be seen on theatres this summer in Telugu and Kannada.
