Video: Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke reflects on difficult summer tour

Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke reflects on difficult summer tour for Australia at a news conference on home soil in Sydney.

Michael Clarke, Australia, said: “I don’t think it is right to go into specifics. I think we just have to play better cricket more consistently. I think, like i say, in patches we played some really good cricket but over a five test series you have got be at your best consistently the whole time and we just didn’t quite do that.”

“I think that is the format that we have. I don’t think it matters…it is about performance, it is about continuing to win. We are lucky that we have a handful of guys that are in our Test team that are also involved inn the ODI’s so hopefully we can continue to build momentum through that and for the guys that are not playing one day cricket will be back in Australia playing Sheffield Shield so, there is plenty of cricket for us to play so guys should be full of confidence and in good form come that first Test.”

“Davey (David Warner) is certainly a big part of the Australian team – whatever format. So, hopefully he is training his backside off, like i am pretty sure he would be. I have spoken to him a couple of times on the phone. he knows that we have got a huge summer ahead and when an opportunity comes up i am sure he will grab it with both hands.”

“I guess for me right now it is about getting on the phone to Alex Kountouris, the Australian physio, and communicating with him as I have been over the last couple of weeks since he’s been back in Australia and we’ll make a plan from there so, yeah. No doubt it is quite stiff and sore but yeah look, i will be guided by the experts as to what i need to do now to try and get myself as fit as i can be.”
