In cricket, as in every team game, individual duels often overshadow and decide the larger context. A cricket fan is scarce to find who would not love to see a duel between Kevin Pietersen and Chris Gayle, two of the most well-loved big-hitters in the game.

Ahead of the Caribbean Premier League tournament which kicks off later this month, the explosive pair of Chris Gayle & Kevin Pietersen undertook the Big Six Challenge in a bid to send the ball the furthest.

Both players had one over to try and hit the biggest six of their lives in the fashion of a penalty shootout – Gayle throwing the occasional sledge the Englishman’s way – ‘Try and hit the ball like a man, not a girl.’

In the end, Pietersen’s best was a 117-metre slog while Gayle beat him by the tiniest distance, hitting a 119-metre monstrous shot.
