Reports: Video evidence available in James Anderson-Ravindra Jadeja case

It is learnt that the video evidence of England pacer James Anderson allegedly “pushing” and “abusing” India’s Ravindra Jadeja is available and will be taken into consideration in deciding the Englishman’s fate on August 1.

According to reports, the BCCI requested for the footage during the all-rounder’s hearing last week itself, in which match referee David Boon fined the Indian 50% of his match fee for “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game”. It was then stated that no such evidence was available and the BCCI expressed disappointment over the same.

Anderson was charged with a Level 3 offence and is facing a possible 2 Test ban if the charges are proved. Australian judicial commissioner Gordon Lewis’ verdict will be final. Indian skipper

Mahendra Singh Dhoni will stay back at Southampton after the end of the third Test match at Rose Bowl for the hearing, while coach Duncan Fletcher, physiotherapist Evan Speechly and the defence counsel will also be present. The other members of Indian team will be on their way to Manchester, where the next Test is scheduled at Old Trafford. The captain will be one of the witnesses for the altercation.

The ill-incident took place in the first Test match of the tour, when players were leaving the field for lunch on day 2. Jadeja was initially charged with a Level 2 offence as a counter to India’s complaint, however, Boon reduced it to Level 1 stating that he wasn’t ‘comfortably satisfied’ with the England and Wales Cricket Board’s(ECB) claim. There is a high possibility that the left-hander’s fine will be overturned on Friday after ICC granted BCCI the right to appeal.

As in the case of Anderson, he will need to stop abusing every cricketer he encounters on the field, as he was also seen confronting with Ajinkya Rahane at the end of play on the fourth day in the ongoing Rose Bowl Test.
