History was made in Old Trafford in 1956 when legendary off-spinner Jim Laker took 19 wickets against Austraila in a single Test match. He single-handedly demolished the Australian batting line-up.

Laker took 9 wickets in the first innings by giving away just 37 runs. In the second innings, came back even stronger as he himself cleaned the Aussies batting order by claiming all 10 wickets alone for 53 runs. He became the first bowler to take all ten wickets in one innings of a match. This was rated as the best-ever return by an England bowler in Ashes cricket history.
