Video: When MS Dhoni hit a six and didn't see how far it went

MS Dhoni- among the biggest six hitters the game has seen

Over the years, Indian limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has moulded himself into one of the finest batsmen in the 50-over format of cricket. Either batting first or chasing a total, the Ranchi-born cricketer always seems to follow a particular pattern to his batting, which is to accumulate singles at the start, get himself set before launching into the bowlers.

But when it comes to the end overs of an innings, even Dhoni can't resist but to go for the big strokes. During an ODI against New Zealand in 2009 at Christchurch, the 34-year-old batsman launched one into the stands off the bowling off Grant Elliot. Interestingly, the right-hander was so confident about the timing on the blow that he didn't bother to even look on top to see if it had cleared the fence.

Two words would be perfect to describe the stroke: NONCHALANCE PERSONIFIED. There are six-hitters in the game, but when MS Dhoni hits them over the boundary, boy, do they stay hit.

The wicket-keeper batsman finished with a 58-ball 68 as India posted a massive 392 for 4 in the match which in the end proved to be too much for the Blackcaps, despite Jesse Ryder’s 100 and they folded up for 334 in 45.1 overs.

Oh by the way! A batsman, who went by the name of Sachin Tendulkar smashed a 133-ball 163 and was awarded the Player of the Match for his performance.
