Video: Sachin Tendulkar and Sadhguru urge Indians to play more sports

Sachin Tendulkar has issued a clarion call along with Sadhguru to Indians

Even after battling for his country on home soil and abroad for two and a half decades, Sachin Tendulkar is not done serving India. He has issued a special call to his countrymen on the sidelines of a rural event, asking them to make a major change in lifestyle.

On the sidelines of the Isha Gramotsavam, Sachin and spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev (also known as Sadhguru) spoke on the importance of sports, and encouraged all Indians to take up playing sports. They urged Indians to take special interest in sports and activity especially because the country is the ‘Diabetic Capital of the World’.

The Isha Gramotsavam is an annual event which involves more than 7,000 participants and showcases India’s rural sports. The event, which has been called the Rural Olympics, involves competitions such as rekla or bullock-cart races, tug of war, Uri adi (hitting a pot strung on a height) and vazhuku maram or greasy pole contests. Mainstream sports such as throwball, volleyball and track and field events are also conducted.

The duo said that playing any sort of a game, in any surroundings, can make a significant impact on the health of any person – and in turn improve relations and the overall life of the person.

“You can go to a job half-hearted. You can go to school or college half-hearted. You can even get married half-hearted. But you can’t play a game half-hearted. That is 100% or nothing.” – Sadhguru
