This was a Princess Diana Memorial played between the MCC XI against the Rest of the World.
MCC XI batted first and set a target of 262 for R.O.W. to chase. Standing up against the likes of Donald, McGrath, Srinath, Kumble and Aamir Sohail, Sachin hit a masterly 125 off 114 balls, for what was a pure exhibition of mastery of batting from a man who was slightly out-of-form coming into this game.
