'Virat Kohli is a big miser': Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh was in a typically candid mood

Yuvraj Singh has never been once to mince words. The stylish left-hander has called it as he seen it through the course of his illustrious career, but maybe this time he has gone too far. The Indian cricketer has taken aim at a number of his teammates, and this might not be in good spirits.

In an interview with with Radio Mirchi, Yuvraj reveals how his former teammates are to be with off the pitch. “There have been many misers in our team, especially the seniors and I cannot reveal their names because this is a very sensitive issue.” Having said that, Yuvraj has spoken about a number of the cricketers.

On Virat Kohli

“I don’t how to explain. It’s like this is yours and this is mine, you will pay for this one and I will pay for that one. You know, in our Punjabi culture, we don’t have that, if we are going out, then one person pays but some people are different and currently, Virat Kohli is the biggest miser. So, every time we go out, it’s me always paying and I have to force him to give the money”.

This is certainly a side of the Indian Test captain that people haven’t seen and Virat Kohli won’t be too pleased with what has been said about him.

On Ashish Nehra

"Usually Ashish is very generous but he gets miserable at times. When he got married, he used to say, please try to understand, I have to manage my wife and kids, I cannot spend much.”

It does make sense for a cricketer to think about his family as there are certain responsibilities that come along with being a family man.

On Javagal Srinath

“Among the senior players Javagal Srinath was very generous. After playing so much of cricket with him, he finally gave us a dal chawal treat and we uploaded that picture on Twitter with a caption 'thank you Srinath Ji, for the treat after 15 years”

A hint of sarcasm here from Yuvraj, Javagal Srinath will not be too pleased when he hears this.

Yuvraj did go on to try to clarify that what he is saying is in a light-hearted manner and should be taken that way.

The clarification

“It’s not like they are miser in that sense but it’s just a fun banter between us like why aren’t you paying"
