Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli has termed the criticism directed to his India team-mate Yuvraj Singh, as unfair after his recent performance in the World Twenty20 with played a big part in the loss for India against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh.

“Yuvraj got criticism recently, it’s unfair. He has won us two World Cups (2007 T20 and 2011 50-over), he’s a proven match-winner and it’s important to back a player like him,” Virat Kohli, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, said yesterday, after his team’s eight-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils in an IPL match in UAE.

Recently Yuvraj became the target of one and all and people were questioning his inclusion in the Indian team.

However, Yuvraj on Thursday got his rhythm back and hit an unbeaten 52 and shared a vital 84 runs for the third wicket with Kohli (49 not out) to bail out RCB who were chasing a target of 146. Kohli also praised his bowlers for containing the Delhi Daredevils to 145 for four.

It is worthwhile to mention that despite the failure of Yuvraj Singh, most of his past Indian team mates, Sachin Tendulkar to Harbhajan Singh, had defended Yuvraj Singh.
