Cricket Australia have decided to drop Perth as a venue for the upcoming Test series against India. This will the first time since 1976-77 that Perth will not host a test match in the Australian summer season. The four venues which are selected for the test matches are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

WACA chief executive Christina Matthews said, ” Whilst CA will provide additional limited over matches to replace the Test match, there is no compensation for losing a Test. The ongoing effect this loss will have on the WACA in Western Australia will be devastating and we are extremely disappointed by the decision, not only for the association, but for our members and WA cricket supporters.

Perth’s time-zone is more favourable for the Indian sub-continent, so a few broadcasters may be disappointed, though the Indian team will be a bit relieved as they will not have to face the Australian pace attack in the fast and bouncy pitch of Perth.
