Indian pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar castled Australian limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch with an absolute beauty of a delivery during the first ODI against the hosts at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Background

India's tour of Australia began with the T20Is which ended 1-1 before the high-voltage Test match series. Virat Kohli's men clinched the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy Test series 2-1 having won the Adelaide and Melbourne Tests. It was a historic win for India who achieved the feat of becoming the first Asian country to seal a Test series in Australia.

Now the focus shifts on the 50-over format and with the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup reckoning, it has assumed much significance. The first of the three-match ODI series between Australia and India began at Sydney on January 12th where skipper Aaron Finch opted to bat first on winning the toss in what looked a belter of a pitch.

Pacer Peter Siddle, who played his last ODI back in November 2010 finally returned to the Australian ODI XI. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old left arm fast medium bowler Jason Behrenorff made his ODI debut, receiving the cap from the legendary Glenn McGrath.

The heart of the matter

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was one short of 100 ODI wickets castled Aaron Finch in the third over the game with an absolute beauty of an inswinging delivery. Finch, who managed just six runs became Bhvneshwar's 100th ODI victim.

What's next?

The Indian team looks very strong in all departments. This will be their best chance to clinch the ODI series against the Aussies in their own backyard having already clinched the Tests. The Men in Blue need 289 runs to win at Sydney and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
