Watching India lose overseas is getting tiring

I mean how can one term it? Tragedy, mayhem, are these words apt enough to describe the sad state of Indian cricket? A million arguments can be made and a hundred fingers can be pointed, but will this overshadow the horrific and the terrible phase Indian cricket is going through. A distraught cricket fan who knows nothing about cricket will always throw a point – Is playing at home and overseas so different? We play like champs when we play at home, yet surrender like cowards when we play abroad.

What is the reason behind India’s form away from home?

And is it apt to say that this is just a phase which shall pass? History has been repeating itself since last few years. We have been blanked out everywhere. Of course, we can divide ourselves into groups and single out the skipper or a few players. But will it cure the wounds that have already been inflicted.

The funniest part is that BCCI is the richest board in the world and our players are well exposed to all the world class facilities one can have. Is it that India lacks talent? No, this would be a lame excuse. Every other kid in India plays cricket. It is high time that something needs to be done. We are doing well in bits and pieces. But these bits and pieces fall short of something which is termed as victory.

MS Dhoni and his defensive tactics, India’s erratic pace bowling, Virat and his slip fielding and of course Rohit Sharma. One can go on and say, ‘The skipper lacks instincts which Sourav Ganguly mastered’. Again for the record even if this point is taken then what is the mitigation? This is an argument which creates hatred, but does not provide a solution. Of course, the big 5 can’t come out of retirement and help India sway away from this rubble of woes.

We are tired of being on the losing side

India has a million motormouths who analyze cricket, even yours truly is one of them. But all those one hundred arguments would only satisfy us. It won’t be doing any ounce of good to Indian cricket. So let us not focus that way. Something needs to be done. We want to win and to achieve that every minute’s action plan has to be chalked out. Even if those action plans sends flutters across the country, it doesn’t matter because we are so tired of being on the losing side.

It has been painful and the BCCI needs to act. There are millions of people of across the globes that are big fans of cricket and it is something which is like a lifeline to them in the otherwise cruel world. An overseas tour is due and we chirp, not with confidence but with hope that India would do well. But they don’t. The lost hopes shoot high when India rips apart the team playing at home. Then another overseas tour is due and the cycle repeats.

We as Indian fans have been quietly taking in the pain for the last few years. But this has to stop. India is a country of 1.5 billion people and we cannot surrender every single time.
