Thoughts on your first matchMy job is give a good start to my team. (M) Mohammed and I did that. But our team could have fielded better. Overall, the bowling unit was absolutely brilliant today.
For the score we put up on the board, we bowlers made it a defendable total even though it was a low score. Personally, I am happy about our bowling, but we could have done better in fielding.
On the Chennai crowd
It’s good we had people coming in initially. And then there was a decent crowd after we started bowling.

On playing with Murali Vijay and other seniorsI have been playing with Murali Vijay and Syed Mohammed for the last three years for Jolly Rovers (in the TNCA First Division League). So it was not tough for me to get along with them and know their plans or know what they think. They do a really good job.
On balancing cricket and studiesI am doing my third year B Sc Computer Science in Loyola College. Being a professional cricketer, it’s very difficult for me to concentrate on my studies.
I’ve not been able to do it for the last two to three years. When I joined Loyola, I started playing for Jolly Rovers and for Tamil Nadu. It was very difficult for me to manage.
On his role modelI love Dale Steyn. Also, I love all the Indian cricketers; they’re all big role models for me. Especially (Javagal) Srinath I love him, I love his bowling. Being a fast bowler I love to see him swing and get wickets overseas.
On the mood in the Lyca Kovai Kings teamActually, we had a fantastic mood going into the match. We had team meetings and pep talks from Vijay and Syed. That gave us lot of confidence that we could defend this total. That was exceptionally good.
