West Indies tour: Gambhir, Yuvraj out ; Raina ODI captain

Suresh Raina will lead the second string side for the tour of West Indies

With injury and ill-health ruling out Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh from the full West Indies tour, India is all set to tour a second string side to the Caribbean. Suresh Raina was named the captain and Harbhajan Singh, the vice captain for the one-dayers and T20 international. With Sachin Tendulkar seeking rest ahead of the Engalnd tour, Virat Kohli was named in the test squad for the first time.

Previously, it was Gautam Gambhir who was named the skipper for the tour of West Indies. As he picked up a shoulder injury during the IPL that has led to another Club vs. Country debate, it is learnt it will take another month’s time for him to recover from the injury.

Sachin Tendulkar has asked for a rest ahead of the England tour citing family reasons. Virat Kohli will take his No.4 spot it is understood. Yuvraj Singh India’s trump player in the 2011 World Cup, is suffering from a lung infection. Another new face in the test squad is Abhinav Mukund, the Tamil Nadu opener. Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary will replace Yuvraj and Gambhir in the one-day side.
