When Michael Clarke met Michael Clarke

Kingston local boy Michael Clarke and Australia captain Michael Clarke

West Indies have not been any match for Michael Clarke’s Australian side in the ongoing Test series in the Caribbean, but the 34-year-old captain found his match in a young cricketer from Kingston – at the coin toss on the morning of day one at Sabina Park.

Clarke was introduced to Kingston’s own Michael Clarke – the second Test’s mascot who was present at the coin toss – and the encounter left an impression enough for the veteran cricketer to promise to give away his Test shirt to his new friend.

Australia finished day one in Kingston at 258/4 from 90 overs, with Smith unbeaten at the crease on 135 and allrounder Shane Watson 20 not out.
