Younis Khan not to be considered for ODIs: Reports

Younis Khan
Despite expressing his interest to represent Pakistan in One Day Internationals, it is expected that Younis Khan will be overlooked for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, as the Pakistan think-tank is more in favour in of blooding the youngsters with the 2015 ICC World Cup in mind.
However, the 36-year-old will continue to remain an integral part of the Test team. Waqar Younis, who was recently appointed as the head coach, is also in favour of maintaining different sets of players for different formats and conveyed the same to the selectors when they met at Lahore this weekend.
Pakistan are scheduled to play 2 Tests and 3 ODIs against Sri Lanka in August.
One of IBNlive's sources said: "While there is no argument over Younis being in the Test side the selectors are not convinced he should be in the one-day squad."
The source added: "There was a lot of debate on whether Younis should be included in the one-day squad but the feeling is that Pakistan needs to move ahead and prepare a set of younger players for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand."
A veteran of 89 Tests and 253 ODIs, Younis last played an ODI in March 2013, against South Africa at Benoni. The right-handed batsman has scored 7014 ODI runs at an average of 31.88 and a strike-rate of 75.36. Although he hasn't gone great guns in the ODI format, the solidity that he offers up the order would have come in handy for Pakistan on the challenging Australian and New Zealand decks.
