Pakistan won the ODI series 2-0

ESPNcricinfo has reported that the Zimbabwean players were paid US$12,500 each by the Pakistan Cricket Board to tour Pakistan for the recently concluded T20 and ODI series. It was the first time a team toured Pakistan since the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus.

The PCB until now haven’t commented on the payments made to the players or to Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC). It is to be noted that the players still haven’t been paid for their World Cup engagement and usually the monthly salary they receive is just US$6,500 (maximum).

The initial offer by the PCB was US$10,000 each to the players, but they felt it was a little less considering the safety concerns. And hence, the tour was first suspended and then was confirmed again after the Pakistan Board increased the amount by US$2500 for each player.

Some part of the money was paid before the tour began, and the rest of it was paid after the tour concluded which explains why the players didn’t cancel the tour despite the suicide attack during the second ODI.

More than 3,500 security officials were deployed by Pakistan for the players’ safety and many players were satisfied with the way the tour was conducted.
