Umeed – Dil se cyclothon raises funds for new born children suffering from Congenital Heart Diseases

Over 200 cyclists, including senior citizens on Sunday April 5, 2015 took part in a Umeed –Dil se cyclothon in Mumbai to raise funds and awareness for the new born children suffering from Congenital Heart Diseases (CHD) for free Paediatric Cardiac surgeries. Rotract Club of Green City (RCGM) Mumbai who initiated this event has garnered support from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani (KDA) hospitals who will heavily subsidize the cost of the surgeries, which will enable RCGM to amplify the power of their funding by many folds.

Indian actor, comedian and a sensational dancer Javed Jaffery flagged off the cyclothon and urged people to understand the importance of showing our support for the children suffering from CHD ”I highly appreciate RCGM’s efforts for spreading awareness about CHD and helping out the children in need of operations free of cost. I was up since 4 a.m. and was looking forward to be here to support this remarkable cause”, Javed Jaffery said.

Birbal a young sports development agency was instrumental in putting the entire event together and also carved out a strategic partnership between Mumbai FC - India’s premiere football club and RCGM where the former sent their entire youth teams (U-15, U-17 and U-19) to volunteer and manage the good cause. Speaking about the event, “Being a sports development and consulting agency, I did not think twice before I took up the responsibility to help in organizing this event. If you ask me a Cyclothon was a perfect way to support this good cause of CHD” Ronak (Co-Founder of Birbal).

Actor K.K Menon was also present to grace the occasion and to give away prizes 2 lucky cyclists who won sensational Firefox cycle each.

About Umeed Dil Se - Cyclothon

Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) is a leading cause of death amongst infants in India. 8-10 children in 1000 are born with this defect. Only 25% get diagnosed and treated. If they are treated with open heart surgery within 6 months of detection over 75% survive and lead a normal healthy life.

Umeed Dil Se is a cyclothon event in partnership with Rotary Club and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital to raise awareness and money for CHD affected kids.
