According to official sales monitor Chart-Track, Activision‘s Destiny has become the fastest-selling new game IP in the UK. Watch Dogs by Ubisoft which is another cross-gen title released this year was the previous record holder, as it sold about 4 million copies worldwide in its first week. Activision has not disclosed Destiny's sales.

Bungie's sci-fi First Person Shooter has kept up with expectations and has reached straight at the top of the UK charts since their recent debut, crossing EA's The Sims 4.

When looking at sales on different platforms, the PS4 version of Destiny has the largest share of sales, at 46 per cent and despite Microsoft's banning of official advertisements of the game, Destiny has even managed 36 per cent of its sales in the Xbox One version. The last-gen platforms made up 17 per cent of sales in total, with Xbox 360 taking 14 per cent of that.

This means that, Destiny managed selling half it’s units on Xbox platforms, overall. This coming after Sony and it’s marketing department treated Destiny as a first-party title, makes this a noteworthy feat. It just goes to show how good the game is.

According to reports, elsewhere in the charts, it was Activision again as their other major FPS franchise, Call of Duty, grabbed the fourth spot, while the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of Minecraft also managed staying in the top ten. This was before yesterday, when Microsoft purchased Minecraft developer Mojang for a fee believed to be more than $2 billion.
