The Order: 1886 - PS4 action adventure game to release this year

The Order: 1886

Are you a fan of the fantasy stories of the Victorian age? Does the legend of Jack the Ripper or the alternate warrior version of Van Helsing give you thrills? If it does then there is some exciting news awaiting as Ready at Dawn’s upcoming action adventure project The Order: 1886 is slated for release sometime later this year.

The Order:1886 which will be a technical showcase exclusively for the PlayStation 4 console will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was announced earlier at the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The story is set in a fictional version of Victorian England where an old order of knights are battling with a mission to save humanity against the half breed creatures of humans and animals. This modification occurred since the seventh century and a conflict broke out since then. Although the half breeds have been outnumbered by the humans, their hybrid nature has seen them overpowering the humans.

But under the leadership of King Arthur and his Round Table Knights, the society has found a new hope to overcome these monsters. The Knights discover a mystical liquid called Black Water that significantly extends their lifetimes and gives them remarkable healing abilities.

Despite of that, the Knights still continue to emerge as the weaker breed until the industrial revolution turns the tide in their favour. With new inventions and progress in technological fields, the knights are equipped with advanced weapons that gives them the upper hand in taming these creatures.

By 1886, the war continues to exist and a new threat emerges in the form of the lower classes rebelling against the rich and the social order, with the Knights supporting the well-to-do upper classes and nobles. The game has four main protagonists with Sebastian Mallory leading the way. Other Knights in the group include Grayson, Lafayette and their youngest female member Isabeau.

The game is still going through its development phase under the joint efforts of Ready at Dawn and SCE Santa Monica Studio. Until now we have had small glimpses of it from the short game plays released and it certainly looks to be promising in terms of high definition lighting, shadow effects and expensive anti-aliasing techniques.

Rogan Ogden who is the Associate Producer at Sony Computer Entertainment talked about how Naughty Dog has defined the standards of PS3 gaming with their Uncharted series and he hopes that The Order will also establish a similar reputation for the PS4 platform.

Speaking to GamingBolt he said, “Personally, I think The Order looks great and when I think about what Naughty Dog have achieved on PS3 with the Uncharted games and The Last of Us, it’s really exciting to imagine how The Order can evolve.”

The game will be exclusively launched for the Playstation 4 console.

An official trailer was released on YouTube earlier in 2014 with a cinematic advanced look which has a good feel about it.
