Williams’ Felipe Massa says that he won’t trust Sergio Perez on track anymore following their controversial last lap crash in Canada a fortnight ago.
The duo were fighting for fourth place at Montreal before a heavy crash on the run down to turn 1 put both the drivers out of the race. Neither of the drivers took blame for the incident and instead used social media to show their anger towards each other.“I will think twice, because I believed he would not move his car, I believed him,” Massa told reports in Austria ahead of Sunday’s race. “You can’t believe now when somebody who is paying so many penalties and causing so many problems, you can’t believe… I will not trust him anymore, definitely. When I will be behind him again I will think about three times where I need to go because I don’t know what he is going to do.”Massa added that the Mexican should learn a lesson from Romain Grosjean, who was able to keep his crashes behind and emerge as a regular podium contender."If you know the history, most of the time it's always the young drivers that causes these accidents, which is dangerous. We saw that another driver [Grosjean] had a lot of problems in the past and he lost a race in Spa because of the accident he caused and he learned. This is something that he [Perez] needs to learn."It's important for him, because if I had made the mistake, I would have been the first one to say 'I'm sorry', like I always did [in the past]. He doesn't think the same way and I'm sorry for him and I hope he learns otherwise he will pay more penalties in the future."Force India, on the other hand, have a different opinion, and have sent an application to sport’s governing body, the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), for reviewing the penalty on the basis of certain new evidence."The FIA has received a request from Sahara Force India F1 Team, the entrant of Car 11, requesting a review of the Stewards' Decision (Document 44 of June 8, 2014) in accordance with Article 13.10 of the FIA International Sporting Code. The request refers to the emergence of 'new elements'."The FIA has been advised that it is physically impossible for the Stewards of the 2014 Canadian Grand Prix to process this request prior to the Austrian Grand Prix and in accordance with Article 13.10.1 of the Code, has designated the Stewards of the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix to:"1. Determine as to whether or not a new element exists under Article 13.10.2 of the code? and"2. If such an element is determined to exist, convene a new hearing to consider any such new element(s)."In order to determine whether or not a new element exists the Stewards will convene at 09:00 hrs on Friday June 20, 2014. The driver and team representative of Car 11 are required to attend to present their case as to the existence of any new element(s)."In the event that the Stewards decide, in accordance with Article 13.10.1 of the Code, that a new element(s) exists, a hearing will be convened at 1600 hours on Friday June 20, 2014. The drivers and team representatives of Car 11 and Car 19 (Felipe Massa - Williams Martini Racing), will be required at this hearing."
