Mercedes' Wolff realistic about back to back wins

In spite of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve’s compatibility with the Mercedes engine, Toto Wolff says they must remain “realistic” about their chances.

Mercedes turned their fourth pole position into a victory when Nico Rosberg took the chequered flag in Monaco after putting on an impressive display.

The nature of the circuit and the high speeds seen in Montreal will also suit the car’s powerful Mercedes engine but there is a high chance that tyre issue might pop up again.

A pragmatic Wolff refuses to be carried away by the possibility of back-to-back victories.

“We enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Monaco but, as I have said before, yesterday’s home runs don’t win tomorrow’s games,” said the Mercedes executive director.

“The high-speed circuit will definitely suit our Mercedes-Benz engine.”

“This weekend will give us a more representative indication of how much progress we have made,” he added
