Monaco Grand Prix Preview: Will there be a sixth winner?

The Monaco Grand Prix takes place next week and will mark the sixth round of the 2012 Formula 1 Season. Five different winners have already emerged from five different races and there is high possibility of a sixth winner in the sixth race with the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, Romain Grosjean and even Michael Schumacher still to come to the fore!

So what to look forward to in Monaco?

Firstly, there are going to be some drivers who arrive in Monte Carlo with immense pressure on their shoulders. Felipe Massa will have to up the ante as Ferrari have clearly issued a warning to the Brazilian driver after another lackluster display in Spain. Michael Schumacher will be looking forward to score some points after having a nightmarish start to his season. To be honest, Michael has driven better than what the results have reflected. Mostly he has been a victim of bad luck and bad timing. In Australia, he was running third when his gearbox failed. In Malaysia, he qualified in third place but got hit by Grosjean in the first lap. In China again, he was a victim of a mistake by one of his mechanics. In Bahrain, his DRS failed on his fastest lap and then had to fight back from 22nd place. So it is clear that it is not Schumi who has been at fault but instead he has been terribly unlucky. So hope luck changes for him as we all want to see him be on the podium.

Lewis Hamilton and Pastor Maldonado will also be under pressure as Lewis is still to score first win of this season, while Maldonado will be hoping to continue from where he left in Spain. Jenson Button will be hoping for a better balnce from his Mclaren after struggling throught the weekend in Spain. Nico Rosberg will also be looking to repeat his Chinese Grand Prix form as he is one of the best street circuit racers.

Coming to Red Bull team, they will be hoping for change in fortune as both of their drivers had a below par weekend in Spain after a very strong performance in Bahrain. The Lotus duo will also be hoping to get their first win after showing strong pace in Bahrain and Spain.

At Ferrari things are looking much better than what it was during the first four races of the season. Fernando Alonso seems to be in top form and it will be wrong not to count him as a contender for a win in Monaco. While Fernando has brought in points for the team throughout the season, his team mate has just two points to his name. Another poor performance from the Brazilian might not go down well with Ferrari as they are already on the lookout for Felipe’s replacement.

Coming to mid field teams. Oh sorry, we cannot say any of the teams as midfield teams as you never know which team will dominant throughout a race weekend. For Sauber, Williams, Force India and Toro Rosso there is always an aim to score some solid points each race weekend and that will be what these teams will be hoping for. But as Williams has shown strong pace aims must be high for Monaco Grand Prix weekend. For the teams at the back of the field who are in a league of their own will try to reduce gap to the midfield.

Pirelli will be bringing supersoft and soft tyres this weekend so it should spice up the racing, and it will be interesting to see who dominates the Monaco Grand Prix!
