A few hours left for the first ever Indian GP race to start in which the fastest cars on this earth will battle for supremacy. Every driver racing at the Buddh International Circuit will be eager to see his name as the first winner at Indian GP. Facts about Indian Grand Prix Trophy:

  • The trophy’s design represents different aspects of India – its cultural heritage and advancing technology. The design intends to project multiple facets of the country.
  • It represents the domes of the Hindu temples and the Taj Mahal with eleven elements.
  • The cup is supported on a gear or cog-like form which has been created by computer technology. The ends of the ‘cogs’ are shaped to represent lotus petals.
  • The Trophy has been designed Richard Fox, who is currently Director at Fox Silver Ltd, Britain. A designer Silversmith and Jeweller, Richard has designed and manufactured trophies for many major sporting events such as Formula One, Polo, Tennis and Football. His clients include Rolls Royce, Pernod Ricard, Bulgari, Lambeth Palace, The Silver Trust and The Goldsmiths’ Company.
  • The trophy is made up of highly polished 24 ct gold and silver plates.
  • The Indian GP F1 trophy is a representation of the Formula One style and rich design detailing that is synonymous with country’s creative culture.
  • Between the gilded laurels lies a red coloured band representing Airtel signifying victory.
  • The inscription collar includes the Airtel and BIC logo. Above the collar of title inscription, there are three coloured rings in saffron, white and green. The coloured bands represent the Indian National Flag.
  • The base is made of black polyacetal with the F1 logo on the underside.
  • There are various sizes of the trophies to be awarded. The trophies that the winning driver and constructor will receive are 550mm high. The height of the trophies for the Second Place Driver and third place driver are 450mm and 400 mm respectively.
