A small error at the first chicane by Nico Rosberg handed the race lead to Lewis Hamilton who went on to win the Italian Grand Prix by a margin to reduce the points deficit in the championship to 22 points. Behind the duo came Felipe Massa who secured his first podium finish for Williams - a result that helps the Grove based outfit overtake Ferrari in the constructors title. Daniel Ricciardo made a late stop and catapulted his way up the field to finish fifth ahead of Red Bull teammate Sebastian Vettel.
