Incheon, Sep 24 (IANS) South Korea successfully defended the Asian Games gold medal of the women's foil team event by beating China 32-27 Wednesday, while the South Korean men's sabre added another gold in a 45-26 victory over Iran.

Leading fencer Jeon Heesook scored five points without an answer against Chinese Le Huilin with an injured finger in the 8th round to give South Korea a 27-21 lead. Nam Hyunhee hung on in the last round for the final victory, reports Xinhua.

The Olympic bronze-medal team won the third gold for the hosts, who have already won eight events so far in the fencing competition in the Asian Games.

Iran, who edged defending champions China 45-44 in the semi-finals, failed to continue their impressive run in the men's sabre team final.

South Korea won almost every round to build up a double-digit leading midway into the final and the final scoreline showed the dominance of the hosts.

South Korea wrapped up the gold medals in all the four team events so far, but China, which won the women's epee and men's foil individuals, are seeking for a break-through in the team events on the last day of the fencing competition Thursday.
