As I write this, Manchester United and Arsenal have played out a goalless draw at the Emirates which by all accounts holds significant importance as far as the 2013-14 Premier League season is concerned. The Red Devils are currently seventh, eleven points adrift of fourth placed Liverpool and looking precariously close on missing out a Champions League berth.

Arsenal on the hand need a win to ensure their home form remains intact to lay claim to their title credentials. However, a draw at home means they have squandered their best chance to leapfrog Chelsea as the Blues dropped points against West Brom on Tuesday night. Manchester City’s match at the Etihad against Sunderland have been postponed, which leaves the top 4 clubs separated by just 4 points. There still remains a lot to contemplate on what the results are going to be in this tipsy topsy Premier League season, but we here at Soccersouls decided to provide our readers three matches which will most likely decide where the trophy is going to end up.

Leaving Liverpool, let’s look at the remaining fixtures for Arsenal, Chelsea and City.

Chelsea v Arsenal – Saturday 22nd March

This certainly is going to decide one likely outcome on which team is certainly out of the race for the Premier League title. Arsenal’s plethora of tough matches home and away including the gruelling Champions League two legged encounter with Bayern Munich is surely going to take a toll on their wafer thin squad. Talking of this game, Chelsea haven’t lost to Arsenal in the 10 matches where Mourinho has been in charge and it could be difficult to see the visitors getting much here. Having said that though, it will be interesting where these two clubs stand going into the match which ultimately might just about decide the fate of both the title chasers.

Manchester United vs Manchester City- Monday, 25th March

What a smash and grab encounter this is going to be. were consigned to their worst Barclays Premier League start in nine years as they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City. Manuel Pellegrini was an emphatic winner in the battle of the Manchester derby debutants in the dugout as the “Chilean Engineer” oversaw his side ruthlessly blow apart David Moyes’ reigning champions at the Etihad Stadium. It depends on where United stand in the table going into the clash, but be rest assured it will be lip smacking of course. United might have to win this to keep alive their hopes of Europe’s elite competition (or atleast a chance to feature in the Europa League) while City cannot afford to lose in order to claim the Premiership.

Arsenal v Man City – Saturday 29th March

Arsenal treacherous home run continues as they host Manchester City just a week after they host Chelsea. The Gunners were ripped apart by the Citizens by a whopping 6-3 margin at the Etihad earlier in the season and Arsene Wenger is the best person to know, such an outcome will but all blow up their hold on the title into ashes. Arsenal should take inspiration from their last season’s 2-0 win at the Emirates if they are to get anything of this encounter. If the Gunners emerge unscathed from this clash then they’ll be in a fantastic position to clinch the title. However, Pellegrini’s Manchester City will have other ideas and will be either buoyant or seething following their trip to face rivals United. Neither teams will be short of motivation though.
