Ranjit Thapa to coach Delhi for the 69th Santosh Trophy

The Delhi Soccer Association has appointed former Gorkha Brigade player and India vice-captain Ranjit Thapa as chief coach of the Delhi state senior team for the 69th Santosh Trophy.

Dharmender Khorala and Aftab Ashraf will be the other coaches to assist Ranjit Singh as Delhi is set to hold open selection trials cum a coaching camp from December 26 onwards at the CWG Village Sports Complex, Akshardham.

The trials would kick-off at 11am that day to select the Delhi state senior football team for participation in the 69th Senior National (North Zone leg) Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy scheduled to be held at Jalandhar in Punjab from January 10 to 20.

The DSA affiliated clubs may send at least four/five outstanding players of their clubs for the trials camp. The DSA has constituted a selection committee consisting of Sharafatullah as chairman, Rajeev Gupta - convenor, Hafiz Shahid, Dilip Ghosh as members. Probables may report to the convenor (98111 14223) and chairman (98111 63886).

Eight North Zone teams – hosts Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, are participating in the qualifiers from which the top two teams move into the final round.
