Adidas announces shortlist of Real Madrid 3rd kits for next season

Zinedine Zidane speaks at a promotional event for Adidas

Adidas has revealed the short-list for Real Madrid’s 2017/18 season 3rd kits via the Creator Studio Competition. Earlier in August this year, the sportswear company had announced that they would give fans the chance to design the 3rd kits of some of Adidas-sponsored European clubs including the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Juventus. In a bold move by the sporting apparel giant, they gave designers around the world to do work their magic,

“We are giving people a blank canvas and allowing them to create something exciting and unique,” Adidas’ general manager of football Markus Baumann said.

“The Creator Studio is an opportunity for fans to become part of the history of some of the biggest global clubs; it’s a true first. We hope the idea of seeing their design on field next year, being worn by the players and by fans around the world, will fuel imagination and creativity.” he added.

Today they revealed the 20 designs selected for Real Madrid’s 3rd kits in a short-list, and there are some truly fascinating pieces in there. Here’s the shortlist in all its glory –

Classic Hoops – never goes out of style

A variant of the classic hoops – just a whole lot brighter
Radial Partitioning – This one’s Modernist!
A sash with the enlarged crest – in purple!!
Classic straight sash with the Spanish national colours – Castilla would love this one

This one is just. WOW.

Something unique with a picture embedded in the background
Another variation of the sash with the club crest
Horizontal division with a darker upper area – trademark Adidas style
Vertical fades – neat, eh?
Downward Arrowed Vertical Fades

Another funky variant –

The Club name printed all over the kit
Polka dots? With dual colour blocks?
Classic vertical thin stripes – wouldn’t look out of place on a
Wide sash with distorted lines running through
Horizontal thick stripes
Yeah, this is not happening, is it?
Faded club crest in the background. That crown, though!
Club crest repeatedly printed with black sash
White hoops, another classic!

They’re all quite creative, aren’t they? Real Madrid and the other clubs will wear the final selected design next season.
