AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das confirms Trivandrum as 2015/16 SAFF Cup hosts

Trivandrum will be the host city of the 2015/16 SAFF Championships

The All India Football Federation general secretary Kushal Das has confirmed that the 11th South Asian Football Federation Championships (SAFF Cup) would be played in the southern India city of Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) from December 23, 2015 to January 3, 2016.

Kushal Das further confirmed that India coach Stephen Constantine would have a full strength Team India at his disposal for the tournament, which in Nepal 2013, India had lost the title to Afghanistan following a 0-2 final defeat in Kathmandu.

The SAFF Cup had originally been planned to be played in June 2015, but due to the congested Indian football calendar and the onset of the monsoons, the South Asian Football Federation decided to postpone the competition.

In total eight nations would compete for the title. Amongst them defending champions Afghanistan, hosts India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
