Chelsea were heavily linked with Alex Sandro in the summer transfer window, but Juventus stood firm and did not let go of their prized asset. However, according to latest reports, the Brazilian is firm on making a move to Chelsea and the Serie A champions are ready to cash in on their unsettled full-back in the January transfer window.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is also a huge fan of the 26-year-old, but Chelsea are set to gain one over their Premier League rivals and win the hotly contested race for Sandro.

The heart of the matter

While Chelsea did sign Zappacosta in the summer transfer window, Sandro is quite clearly at another level and his addition will definitely add some verve and zest to the Chelsea line-up.

Conte's system relies heavily on full-backs and it seems like the Italian manager is ready to pay close to £69 million to implement his style and finally get the team he wants at Stamford Bridge.

Author's take

There have been a lot of differences between Conte and the Chelsea board over the transfers made in the summer transfer window. This had even led to reports that the Italian was ready to quit Stamford Bridge.

However, with Chelsea now set to beat Manchester United in the race to sign Sandro, Conte will definitely be pleased and he will be looking forward to challenging for top honours once again.
