The Legends Cup, the biggest corporate tournament with 36 of the biggest teams participating, commenced on a sunny afternoon in Delhi’s Plaza Farms. On the first day of the tournament, which got the eyeballs it deserved, the 36 teams were seeded based on performance. The top 8 teams were competing not only for the Platinum Cup but also had a shot of being ‘Legends’.

Finally it were the two old rivals that met in the final – FIS and American Express. The crowd filled the whole ground cheering for both the teams. The game was nothing short of a treat to the spectators who were hundreds in number.

As the clock ticked down, the game headed to penalties as no team was able to break the deadlock. Both the keepers were in fine form, keeping their teams alive in the tournament. Sadly one team had to lose after coming so close to the title. On this night it was FIS that were left to wonder what went wrong as American Express clinched their 3rd Legends Cup title in 2 years. Jahid Chowdhary, the winning goalkeeper, was adjudged the Man of the Match for his heroics in the penalty shootout.

“We played well but they played better and hence they won. We did not concede even a single goal in the whole tournament and yet we are on the losing side,”said a very dejected Nishant Malik, midfielder of FIS.
