Angel Di Maria has criticized Louis Van Gaal for his terrible season at Manchester United. The winger became the most expensive transfer in Premier League history when he made his move from Madrid to the Red Devils in the summer of 2014.

The player in an interview with the BBC talked about how poor United have been this season and the lack of change in their playing style saying, "I left and that team are still playing the same way. Out of the European competitions, far from being champions of the Premier League.”

Di Maria thinks the results were not his fault and he gave it a 100% every time he stepped onto the pitch saying, “I don’t think it was my fault or the fault of my team-mates. Every time I was given the opportunity, I did all I could but it didn’t work out as I hoped.”

The 28-year-old had a miserable season with the club. After a bright start to the season in 2014, his goals started to dry up and his influence in the game began to diminish and he ended up joining PSG in 2015.

Di Maria has claimed he wasn’t happy in Manchester and wanted to win silverware after a trophyless season at the club saying,”So I decided to leave, not only to be happy but to win things.“

He also said that Van Gaal did not utilize him wisely and he never adjusted to his tactics saying, “I started a game in one position then the next game in another. I scored goals playing in one position, then suddenly the next game I was picked to play in a different position.”

The former Real Madrid man seems to have found his feet in Paris and is currently enjoying life at the club. “That is what I’m doing here and I’m very thankful to the manager [Laurent Blanc] for it. From the beginning he was clear where he wanted to play me and has never changed his mind. He gave me total freedom to move where I needed to move. I’m very happy here and it wasn’t the case over there”

Di Maria has already won the League title with PSG this season after the club achieved the feat in just 30 games to make it one of the fastest ever title wins in footballing history.. They have also progressed into the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they will face United’s derby rival Manchester City.
