Angel Di Maria requests a transfer from Real Madrid; Sami Khedira turns down new deal

Angel Di Maria has rejected a new deal to stay at Real Madrid and has asked for a move

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed today that Argentine winger Angel Di Maria has asked for a transfer and rejected a new deal to extend his stay at the club.

Major European heavyweights like Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United have expressed an interest in his signature, with reports suggesting that the English club are willing to spend as much as £100 million on the transfer fee and his wages combined.

Ancelotti said, “Di María asked to go in the summer and has rejected an offer from the club. The player has to look for a solution. If when the market closes he’s still here, he will work with us like last season and there will be no problem.”

Speaking to the media before the 2nd leg of the Super Copa against Atletico, he also said, “He’s a Real Madrid player and until 31 August, as I’ve already said, anything can happen. I’m surprised to read that there seems to be some disagreement [about Di Maria] between the club and me. There’s no disagreement and we both think the same.”

The Italian coach also mentioned that Sami Khedira too has rejected a new deal, although he has not yet asked for a move. “It’s a different situation to Di María. He’s not asked to go. He’s rejected an offer to renew, but has a year of contract. We’ll see what happens.”

Arsenal have been reported to be interested in the German World Cup winner’s signature as they are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder.
