Angry fans racially abuse Barcelona players after 1-0 loss to Granada

Is it falling apart for the Blaugranas?

FC Barcelona were greeted by a band of infuriated fans following their defeat to Granada last Saturday in their La Liga encounter.

The Catalans were knocked out from the Champions League quarter finals on Wednesday night by their familiar domestic foes Atletico Madrid. After the disappointing exit, it was believed that Messi and co would give their all to win the Spanish league but the 1-0 slip up away at Granada has made things tougher for the Blaugranas.

Following their shocking defeat, the squad was welcomed by their fans with abusive comments.

The crowd responded with comments like “You should be ashamed”, “You’re just thinking about the World Cup” and many other expletives like “motherf*****”.

Their high profile summer signing Neymar was racially abused while goal keeper Pinto too wasn’t spared .

“Get out of Barça now you w***”

The club’s Sporting Director Andoni Zubizaretta was also targeted by a particular dissatisfied fan who shouted, “Ridiculous. Get out of here, you first Zubi.”

The players were taken back to the Camp Nou to pick up their cars and personal belongings after suffering their defeat in Los Cármenes. They were also greeted by the same group of fans as they left. Centre back Mascherano and Jordi Roura who served as the acting manager during Titi Vilanova’s absence interfered to calm those supporters.

“We want to speak to the three captains”, they were told.

Barca have been enduring a tough campaign with off field issues hovering over the Camp Nou this season. Sandro Rosell stepped down from his presidential post after the controversial Neymar transfer saga. It was followed by a two year transfer ban imposed by FIFA for purchasing under aged players.
