Anja Lewandowski replicates her namesake's goalscoring form

Robert Lewandowski’s name sake Anja Lewandowski scored four goals for her team

Anja Lewandowski who shares the same last name as the Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, scored almost the tally as her namesake over the week, according to Bild. The player who is currently part of SV Glatten, scored four times for them in the District Cup second round match against SV Musbach II.

While she was only one goal away from being on par with her male counterpart, she like the Polish striker was the only one who scored for the team. SV Glatten ended the match with Anja scoring all four goals within a time span of 22 minutes – from 55 to 77 minutes – and won 4-0. While it was far from Robert Lewandowski’s five goals in nine minutes, it was a remarkable feat none the less.

Lewandowski though, broke several records that night against VfL Wolfsburg. He currently holds the record for the shortest time taken to to score five goals in a single match – a feat he shares with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Radamel Falcao – and the Bundesliga record for the fastest hat-trick.

When she was asked in an interview if she thought about emulating the 27-year old after watching his match a day before hers, she said she had no such idea running in her mind. While she wanted to score a fifth goal, she was very happy with the four goals she scored.

The team’s manager Nadine Wiedmaier who is in charge of preparing her players said that Anja was definitely a first-team player and was very important to the team. The player though was not too comfortable receiving all the attention and credit her teammates for helping her score the goals.

Although both the players have no relation, they do have some other coincidental connections. Anja who has been playing in SV Glatten her whole life came into the first team through the club’s youth academy and ironically Lewandowski’s former Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp was from the same club.

It is likely that Lewandowski had never heard about the Musbach player before, but the timing of their large goal tally might change that. Whether it is Robert or Anja, it is definitely a good week to be a Lewandowski.
