Anzhi puts up entire squad worth over €160m for sale

Brazilian international Willian is the most expensive player in the Anzhi squad

After the recent sacking of manager Rene Meulensteen, Russian club Anzhi have put up their entire squad – which is estimated to be worth more than €160m – for sale due to financial difficulties.

Club owner Suleyman Kerimov decided that the entire squad needed to be sold in order to free up cash for the club.

Anzhi has some very high-profile players who signed for the club at exorbitant transfer fees and highly inflated salaries. Their most expensive player is Brazil’s Willian, who is worth €30m.

Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o earns close to €20m a year, while Lassana Diarra, who signed from Real Madrid, makes about €5m a year.

The top ten players (list below) in the team have a total market value of €158m.
