Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Arsenal Everton

Arsenal and Everton served up a exciting Premier League game on Saturday with Wenger’s men running out 2-1 winners at the end. Arsenal dominated right from the start and in the end managed to see out the game.

Here are the player ratings from the match:

Arsenal

Petr Cech – 5/10

Cech didn’t really have much to do but did appear shaky at times. Just before halftime, he completely misjudged a ball and that resulted in a corner for the Toffees. He redeemed himself with a great save late on in the game.

Hector Bellerin – 6/10

The Spaniard wasn’t as lively as he usually is. But there can be no denying that he did his job really well. Bellerin defended well and made some good runs ahead.

Laurent Koscielny – 7/10

Kos, as he is called by Arsenal fans, put in a good performance. He was rock solid at the back and also managed to score the second goal for Arsenal from a Santi Cazorla freekick.

Gabriel – 6.5/10

He greatly complemented Koscielny at the back and made some vital tackles to prevent the Everton forwards from wreaking havoc. However, there is no denying that he could have done a bit more to prevent Ross Barkley from scoring.

Nacho Monreal – 5/10

Monreal linked up well with Sanchez down the left wing but there were a few occasions where he was caught out of position. Everton exploited that and the likes of Coleman and Deulefeu were always looking to pounce.

Francis Coquelin – 6/10

He was rather subdued throughout the game. Yet one cannot deny that he did what was required of him. He partnered Cazorla well but in the future, Wenger will certainly expect more from him.

Santi Cazorla Arsenal Everton

Santi Cazorla – 7/10

Arsenal’s captain for the game was lively and efficient throughout the course of the game. He provided some impeccable passes and also provided the assist for his side’s second goal.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.5/10

The English international was one of the most exciting players on the pitch. He made some great runs ahead and also provided a few balls into the box. Unfortunately for him, his efforts did not yield results.

Mesut Ozil – 8/10

The former Real Madrid man provided an assist for Olivier Giroud for his side’s first goal. Overall, he had a really good game providing a number of crosses. He was unlucky not to score with a shot late on hitting the post.

Alexis Sanchez – 7.5/10

The Chilean continued his good form. He troubled the Everton defence a number of times down the left wing. Further, his trickery was instrumental in his side winning the freekick that eventually led to the second goal.

Olivier Giroud Arsenal Everton

Olivier Giroud – 7.5/10

He scored from a Ozil cross in the first half and threatened on a number of occasions. Yet he would be disappointed to have not been able to score more. A shot from him in the second half rattled the bar.

Substitutes

Mathieu Flamini – 6.5/10

The Frenchman has reinvented himself at the Emirates and came on in place of Oxlade-Chamberlain. He played well after coming on and came really close to scoring from a header.

Kieron Gibbs – 5/10

Gibbs came in place of Sanchez and helped his side see out the game.

Everton

Tim Howard – 7/10

The American was one of the few Everton players who shone on the pitch. He made innumerable saves especially in the second half. However, he would be disappointed that his exploits did not earn Everton a point.

Seamus Coleman - 6/10

He made some attacking runs ahead and was a constant menace to the Arsenal defence. However, he did have some difficulty in handling Alexis Sanchez and was often caught out of position.

John Stones – 6/10

The young centre back would be disappointed to have not done more to prevent his side from conceding two goals. He was decent going ahead but at the back, he could have been a bit better.

Jagielka Arsenal Everton

Phil Jagielka – 5.5/10

The captain didn’t have the best of outings. He was less than decent at the back and could have been better. Martinez will however be worried with the injury suffered by Jagielka.

Brendan Galloway – 5.5/10

The Everton leftback played to the best of his ability. He defended well and also linked up nicely with Lennon down the left wing. At times, he missed a few interceptions and will be keen to overcome that.

James McCarthy – 6.5/10

The former Wigan man played really well in the role of the holding midfielder. He provided support at the back and also was efficient going ahead. He has been consistent with his performances this season.

Gareth Barry – 6/10

Gareth Barry played a key role in starting the counter attack that eventually led to his side’s goal. Post Jagielka’s departure, he led the side but will be disappointed to have been red carded in the dying stages of the match.

Aaron Lennon – 5/10

The ex English international was rather subdued throughout the game. Unlike what he usually does, there were no quick runs with the ball or some deadly crosses.

Gerrard Deulofeu – 7/10

The Spaniard was a constant menace for the Arsenal defence. He exploited the spaces up front and also made some deadly crosses. He delivered a key pass that eventually led to Ross Barkley’s goal.

Ross BArkley Arsenal Everton

Ross Barkley – 7/10

He scored right before halftime thereby giving the Toffees a chance to get back into the game. Apart from that, he hardly threatened and needs to deliver more for his side in the upcoming games.

Romelu Lukaku – 5.5/10

The Belgian cut an isolated figure for Everton upfront. The supply and the key passes were missing and Lukaku is sure to be frustrated with both his performance and the result of the game.

Substitutes

Ramiro Mori – 6/10

He came on in place of Phil Jagielka and was rock solid at the back for the rest of the game. With Jagielka having suffered an injury, Mori is expected to start the coming games for Everton.

Kevin Mirallas – 5/10

He replaced Aaron Lennon but did very little to help his side find an equalizer.

Arouna Kone – 5.5/10

The former Levante man has put in some match winning performances for his team and his introduction late on raised hope of an Everton equalizer. But that never happened.
