Arsenal announced the much-expected signing of Shkodran Mustafi 

Arsenal finally completed the signing of defender Shkodran Mustafi after intense pleading by the Gunners supporters to boost their squad in the summer. The German international who moved for a reported £35m from Valencia becoming the Gunners’ third major signing of the summer alongside Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka.

However, not every supported was optimistic that Wenger would be able to land Mustafi to the Emirates. One angry fan, frustrated at Arsenal’s lack of transfer activity, took to Twitter to express his doubts when the deal was doing rounds in the media.

The Arsenal fan, Danielfloyd1981 tweeted on 12 August: “Tell you what if we sign Mustafi I’ll give everyone that RT’s this £20. #AFC #GoonerFamily”

Daniel’s tweet went viral and was retweeted over 11,000 times which made Arsenal obviously take note of the proceedings.

However, Arsenal were not ones to back down. After confirming the signature of Mustafi, they decided to troll Daniel by posting a video message with Mustafi himself in it saying: “Hi Daniel, I hope you don’t regret your tweet.”

The defender ended his message with a grin and a thumbs up after successfully trolling the fan on Twitter.

A youth academy product of Everton, Mustafi was at Valencia for two years and made 64 league appearances before joining Arsenal.

Speaking about him, Arsene Wenger said: “He is at the right age. He has good experience. He is a very focused player who can play with the ball as well. We have taken a great player but have prepared well for the future.”

Delighted after making the move to the Emirates, Mustafi said: “I’ve always loved the club Arsenal.

“I like how they play here. It’s not typical English.

“The game here is more like in Spain and the German national team by keeping the ball on the grass so it was easy to convince me.”
