Arsenal remove Cesc Fabregas banner outside Emirates Stadium

The Fabregas banner that was at the Ken Friar Bridge at Emirates Stadium

Former Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas, who moved to cross town rivals Chelsea last month, now has his banner removed from the Ken Friar Bridge at Emirates Stadium.

The Ken Friar Bridge which leads to the Emirates Stadium always had a banner featuring Fabregas to honour his contribution to the club as player and captain. The banner stayed even after Arsenal sold him to Barcelona respecting his wish to play at his boyhood club.

But that admiration has come to an end after Arsenal officials chose to bring the banner down following his move to the Stamford Bridge from Barcelona, a move every Gunner fan loathed.

Arsenal rejected the option of re-signing Fabregas again as they had inserted a buy-back clause in his contract but ended up as Jose Mourinho’s first signing. News of fans burning old Fabregas jerseys were reported in North London last month and the fans feel Fabregas does not deserve to be glorified at his old club.

Fabregas now has joined a long list of players who have moved to Premier League rivals from Arsenal in search of glory.
