Arsenal rumour: Alexis Sanchez offered £400,000-a-week deal to leave Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez is a wanted man

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is rumoured to be the recipient of a mammoth offer from an unknown Chinese Super League club. The 27-year-old is currently negotiating with the Gunners over the extension of his contract but could be tempted by the massive £400,000-a-week offer said to be on the table.

The Chinese Super League have lured a lot of top European stars in the past few transfer windows with the likes of Tottenham Hotspurs’ Paulinho and Southampton’s Graziano Pelle joining from the Premier League for ridiculous amounts of money.

And now they’re targeting arguably one of Europe’s top forwards in Alexis Sanchez to further boost the profile of the Chinese Super League in comparison to a host of other European leagues. China is pumping in a lot of money into football for obvious reasons and sees Sanchez as the kind of coup de grace of their project so far.

He’s won a lot on the club scene and on the international scene and could prove to be the kind of signing that triggers a massive migration of players choosing China over ‘smaller’ European leagues.

The former Barcelona man has been on fire for North London club, Arsenal, having joined them in 2014 and has looked like the kind of forward the Gunners have missed ever since losing Robin van Persie to Manchester United in 2012. Yet, he’s still in a standoff with the club regarding the extension of his contract – alongside Germany international Mesut Ozil.

With thirteen goals and nine assists in twenty appearances for the Gunners this season, Sanchez is en route to becoming one of their biggest ever stars; and he currently leads the Premier League Golden Boot race with eleven goals – tied with Chelsea’s Diego Costa.

And if rumours are to be believed, he is demanding a whopping £220,000-a-week deal with Arsenal – on par with the likes of Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero over at Manchester City. Mesut Ozil is demanding a similar deal, too but Arsene Wenger has been coy over whether they’re going to agree to their demands – suggesting earlier this week that they lower their wage demands a tad bit.

With Sanchez’s Arsenal contract set to end at the completion of the 2017/2018 season, he’s going to be flooded with offers now on to try and lure him away from the North London club. Italian giants Juventus, Parisian giants Paris Saint-Germain and a host of other European giants are waiting in the wings should he decide his future lies elsewhere.
