The summer transfer window has been disappointing for Arsenal. The Gunners have signed only one player in the squad and so far their attempts to bring in more players have been rendered unsuccessful.

Leicester city striker Jamie Vardy refused to head to the Emirates and the Gunners also missed out on Gonzalo Higuain. Recent news suggests that it is highly unlikely that Leicester star Riyad Mahrez will be signing for the Gunners in the ongoing transfer window.

The London club’s legacy as one of the biggest clubs in England has been dealt a blow as former player Ouzhan Özyakup has refused to return to the club.

Given that the side’s pursuit of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has not yielded any results so far, the club has now decided to focus at other players who could be available for a transfer. If reports are to be believed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is now considering signing at least one of the Real Madrid duo of James Rodriguez and Isco at the earliest.

Both the players have fallen in the pecking order at Madrid, especially with their peers taking every opportunity that is presented to them and hence a move to another club makes perfect footballing sense.

Rodriguez signed for Real Madrid in July 2014 in a multi-million-pound deal. However, he has failed to live up to his price tag and is deemed excess to requirement at the Bernabeu.

Rodriguez has been linked with a move out of Real Madrid for some time now and West Ham United were keen on signing the player and had reportedly offered a bid of £72m for the player. However, the deal did not come through.

The other player in the news, Isco joined Real Madrid in June 2013 from Malaga and since then has made 149 appearances for the club scoring 22 goals in all the competitions. Known for his dribbling skills, passing accuracy and strength, the player is often compared with Sergio Aguero and his manager Zinedine Zidane.

Recent reports from Marca state that either Rodriguez or Isco could end up leaving Santiago Bernabeu this summer as Real manager Zinedine Zidane has asked the club to let Asensio stay at the club once the latter’s loan spell at Espanyol ends.

While the duo may end up leaving Bernabeu this summer, it is yet to be seen if Arsenal are ready to meet Real Madrid’s valuations of the players.
