Arsenal weekly round-up: 20th October, 2013 to 27th October, 2013

Arsenal

Arsenal FC

Arsenal‘s first game of the week was a Champions League game against last year’s finalists Borussia Dortmund. The Gunners lost the game 2-1 through a late goal by Robert Lewandowski who arguably shouldn’t have been on the pitch after an incident with Laurent Koscielny.

Despite the 2-1 loss the Gunners are still top of the group level on points with Dortmund and Napoli. It was vital for Arsène Wenger’s men to bounce back after their defeat in midweek and they did with a 2-0 away win against London rivals Crystal Palace. The goals came from a Mikel Arteta penalty and a late header from Oliver Giroud.

Mikel Arteta was sent off after 65 minutes after a last-man foul on ex-Arsenal man Marouane Chamakh. The win extends Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to 2 points over London rivals Chelsea.
