Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has warned his understudy, Lukasz Fabianski, that he wants his spot back for the FA Cup final against Hull City.

Fabianski has been Arsenal’s ‘cup keeper’ this season and was magnificent in the penalty shootout that saw the Gunners advance past Wigan Athletic in the semi-finals last weekend.

He saved two penalties to send Arsenal through where they will face fellow Premier League side, Hull.

They weren’t the first penalties Fabianski has saved this season, either, after he made a brilliant stop in Munich when faced with Thomas Muller in the Champions League.

However good his performances in the competition have been, Szczesny wants his place back.

Szczesny said: “It’s up to the manager who plays. I think Lukasz has done really well and deserves a lot of credit but I would love to play, obviously.

“I’m an Arsenal fan and I just want us to get the trophy. It’s not about me playing. Lukasz has been doing really well and he was our shootout hero at Wembley, so I was happy for him.”

Szczesny has been fantastic in goal for Arsenal this season but with Fabianski performing so well in the cups, he will probably get the nod ahead of his club and national teammate for the final.

Szczesny has kept 13 cleans sheets this season.
