Arsene Wenger trolled on twitter post Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League victory

Arsene Wenger has had a lean spell in the Champions League

Arsene Wenger has been the manager of Arsenal for two decades now. The club has endured a lean spell in terms of trophies after the first eight years of his reign resulted in a deluge of silverware ending with the FA Cup in 2005. An eight-year dry spell ensued, which was broken with the FA Cup in 2014.

Wenger’s saving grace at Arsenal has been the fact that he has managed to take them to the UEFA Champions League qualification in every single year of his reign, which no doubt is a marvellous achievement but he has not managed to win the trophy yet.

Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane on the other hand, is in his first season of management and has won the Champions League in his first attempt. This obviously induced comparisons with Wenger, who has been in the Champions League for 20 years with no trophy to show for it.

Twitter trolls went about their business in hilarious fashion as they took on one of their favourite victims, Arsene Wenger and his lack of trophies.

Starting with one of Arsenal’s biggest fans and Wenger’s staunch critic, Piers Morgan:

Wenger has spent a long time in Champions League football,

Sky Sports presented some statistics as well:

Sergio Ramos’ legs have done a better job.

Zidane has an impressive record in the Champions League.

Troll Football was not be left behind as well.

Who wants to win the Champions League anyway when you have the Emirates Cup.
