Atletico Madrid‘s Brazilian forward Diego Costa (L) is fouled during the Spanish Copa del Rey semifinal football match Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid on January 31, 2013. Atletico Madrid edged Sevilla 2-1.

Atletico Madrid edged Sevilla 2-1 in the Spanish Cup semi-final first leg on Thursday in a match where all three goals came from the penalty spot and three players were red-carded.

Diego Costa put away two spot-kicks, in the 49th and 72nd minutes, for Atletico with Alvaro Negredo replying also with a penalty in the 56th minute.

Sevilla had Emir Spahic and Fernando Navarro sent off with Diego Godin Leal being red-carded for Atletico while six others were yellow-carded.

On Wednesday, Real Madrid and Barcelona drew 1-1 in their first leg clash.

The second legs take place on February 27.
