In a football crazy city like Bangalore, the emergence of fan groups the past few years has brought about a phenomenal change in the match viewing experience. Most fan groups get together with fellow fans and cheer for them together. In a city where beer consumption is very high among youngsters, there is no other better way to watch a match with a mug of beer in hand and hundreds of fellow fans to cheer with. These screening normally take place in pubs and sports bars across the city.

The Premier League is reaching its business end and this weekend’s big clash between top-of-the-table Arsenal and 4th placed Liverpool will be a crunch match for both teams. After their best start to the season in years, Arsenal would want to prove a point to their critics that they are genuine title contenders by performing in a big match. Liverpool on the other hand will want to consolidate their 4th position and assure themselves of champions league football next season.

Taking a cue from the above concept and taking it a step further, the Liverpool Fan Club, Bangalore in association with Sportoholic and Xtreme Sports Bar present “GAMEON”, the biggest ever screening that is scheduled to take place for a football match at Bangalore, with over 300 fans from both sides expected for the event. This screening will take place at Xtreme Sports Bar’s Sarjapur Road outlet. The match will be played on a 211 inch ULTRA HD screen with a capacity to accommodate over 800 fans.

To make this event even more fan friendly, the fan group has arranged buses for all the fans from across Bangalore which will provide the fans pick up and drop facilities. This is a first of its kind initiative to be taken up in Bangalore. The fan group is striving hard to make this a regular initiative so that the fans have a wonderful experience as they vociferously cheer their team on.

liverpool arsenal“This is a pilot event and in the future we will have screening of many matches. We would also like to bring in more fun elements to the whole experience and this will be the go-to event for any football fan to feel the best match viewing experience” says Anirudh Rajagopalan, CEO of Sportoholic and a member of the Liverpool Fan Club, Bangalore.

“Being the biggest sports bar chain in India, Xtreme has always had a vision of making the whole match viewing experience something to cherish for the fans. With this initiative, we hope we manage to bring together fans from across the city and also then take this initiative across our 6 other outlets in Bangalore as well” says Sandeep Balan, Marketing Manager at Xtreme Sports Bar, Bangalore.

If this fan initiative becomes a success, we can see many more such screenings across the city and it might start a trend that is here to stay for many many years to come.
