Barcelona may play on Indian soil this summer prior to the 2014/15 season

FC Barcelona may tour India in the pre-season according to Mundo Deportivo.

The club is working on possible destinations keeping in mind player fatigue after the World Cup ends in July. The first day of the La Liga 2014/15 season has not yet been decided but it may start on the weekend of August 24th.

There were plans to tour the United States or Asia in the summer with the primary objective being popularising the club in other countries around the world. But with player fatigue a factor, the club do not want to tour the United States and would rather conduct their pre-season exhibition games in Asia or Africa.

India is considered an emerging market but is not well known for holding friendly matches in the summer. But it serves as a good destination from a commercial standpoint as well as the best Asian destination where the trip would not be more than six to seven hours.

Other destinations that are in their radar are Russia, mainly because of the economic potential and because they can meet sponsorship agreements with Russian companies.
